I organised a WEBcast of the annular solar eclipse from Madrid on 03/10/2005. Dr Timothy Young (Physics) and Dr Ronald Marsh (Computer Science) from the Sun-Moon-Earth System expedition of the University of North Dakota kindly brought their digital equipment to our observatory in the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and we set up a live webcast so that viewers could see the eclipse in action at the centre of its path.
The event was reported by CBS News and you can read Tim and Ron’s blog of their visit here. You can download the WEBcast here (note that you have to change the saved file extension to AVI).
The following poster is a good general source of information on solar eclipses.
and the image below will help all you eclipse-chasers to locate the next one near you!
QKED have produced a fascinating mini-documentary on eclipse-chasers which you can see here.
