Mathematical Patterns

Mathematics is a controversial subject. Some call it science, some art. There is no doubt in my mind that it is both. There is logic to patterns and their formation and their is beauty. In the mathmatical world of multiple infinities our creativity can be unleashed, fantasy can roam free and the functions that are at the heart of nature’s diversity and encoded in her genes, can be gradually uncovered. There are some who seek patterns in the structure of equations and others who use equations to seek patterns. The images presented here have been created and made available by the geometric artist Ghee Beom Kim. As he says, “Most of the stuff I created here are the result of trial on simple initial ideas, which might lead to some complex structure”. Perhaps, just perhaps, the plethora of patterns around us are the product of such a process… natural selection operating on mutation “trials”?
